Ariadne M. Clinton

I have over 20 years of experience in M&A, private funding, corporate governance, securities regulation and compliance, and civil and criminal litigation. Coupled with my broad legal background with a specific expertise in the financial services industry, and the FinTech sector in particular. As a former financial advisor, I hold Series 7 and 66 securities licenses and not only do I understand the business-side, but have a keen understanding of the complex regulatory environment post-Dodd-Frank. As a former senior staff counsel at the U.S. Securities & Exchange Commission, where I was instrumental in investigating several high-profile insider trading and market manipulation cases. And as a former defense counsel for several large insurance companies and broker dealers, I helped clients navigate the current ever-evolving financial regulatory landscape. Prior to joining Meyer Law, I worked at Merrill Lynch, Bank of America, the SEC, and Debevoise & Plimpton. 

Why do you love what you do?

My husband, Tom, is a Silicon Valley physicist and his work has given me a great admiration for technology, innovation and the entrepreneurial spirit. I love the energy of the start up sector and helping clients realize their dreams through effective legal advice and planning.

Where did you go to undergrad and law school?

I am a graduate of Georgetown University where I earned a degree, with honors, in Political Science and English. I hold a J.D., with honors, from the Georgetown University Law Center and was selected to be the Editor-in-Chief of The American Criminal Law Review, the country’s premier criminal law journal, during my time in law school. I recently completed VC University led by Adam Sterling, Maryam Haque, and Bobby Franklin (Feb 2023). I am admitted to practice law in New York and D.C.
