Karen Nyhlen

What is your specialty?

I support the attorneys and their clients so they can build strong foundations for success. My work focuses on financing transactions, securities, contracts, corporate governance, intellectual property and legal operations.  I help the lawyers and clients to navigate the legal and operational challenges that startups and growing businesses face as they scale their companies.  I love solving complex problems and figuring out how all the pieces fit together.  Every company has a unique story, and I enjoy working with our clients to write their next chapter.

What do you like most about what you do?

I have always loved solving puzzles. I enjoy bringing order to complex situations, organizing information, connecting the pieces and moving matters forward. Whether it’s a financing transaction, a contract negotiation, an intellectual property matter or a corporate governance issue, I enjoy helping attorneys and their clients find practical solutions. There’s nothing more rewarding than seeing a client achieve a milestone or reach a new level of success after being part of the team that helped make it happen.

Where did you go to school.

I earned a Master of Science in Television, Radio and Film from the Newhouse School at Syracuse University, where I was awarded a full scholarship.  I also hold a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from SUNY Albany and an Associate of Applied Science in Paralegal Studies from Erie Community College in Buffalo, New York.
